My Kenya Wildlife Marathon Adventure: Running with Nature

Hey there! Imagine going on a crazy adventure called the Kenya Wildlife Marathon. It's not just a run – it's a chance to explore the amazing nature of East Africa. So, let me take you on a journey as I share my experience of running through Kenya's wild beauty.

Embracing the Wild:

As the sun came up, I was surrounded by cool sounds of the savanna. The Kenya Wildlife Marathon isn't just about running fast; it's about feeling the magic of nature. Leaves rustling, lions roaring in the distance, and my heart beating – it all mixed together like a nature concert pushing me forward.

Running with Amazing Animals:

Picture this: running next to giraffes with their long necks reaching up. The marathon goes through places where wild animals live, giving you a front-row seat to nature's amazing show. Zebras eating grass, elephants far away – each step feels like being in a cool nature movie.

Meeting Friendly Villagers:

In the middle of all this wildness are little villages. The marathon path goes through places where local people live. Kids wave and smile as you run past. Their cheers and smiles make the marathon feel like a team effort, reminding you that this race is also about the awesome people who live here.

Heartbeat of the Maasai Mara:

The Maasai Mara, with its golden grass and cool trees, makes the marathon even more awesome. Maasai warriors in red clothes line the path, singing in their cool way. Running with them makes you feel like you're part of something big, connecting with people from different places.

Helping Nature Stay Awesome:

The Kenya Wildlife Marathon isn't just about running. It helps keep animals safe and nature protected. The marathon supports projects that take care of animals and make sure Kenya's cool places stay awesome. Each step helps make the world a better place.

Finishing the Run:

As I got closer to the end, I felt so proud. The Kenya Wildlife Marathon isn't just about being fast – it's about discovering new things about yourself and celebrating the wild spirit inside. Finishing the race made me thankful for getting to see Kenya's amazing nature in such a cool way.

Conclusion:

The Kenya Wildlife Marathon isn't just a race; it's like going on a wild adventure in Africa. From running with awesome animals to hanging out with local friends, this marathon is a collection of super cool moments. Looking back on this adventure, I realize Kenya's true beauty isn't just in its nature but in the awesome mix of animals, people, and all of us crazy runners who decided to have an epic run through it all.

What to eat before a morning workout?

After reading this great article from Linzay Logan I just had to re-blog it! I am sure I am not the only one who loves those scenic sunrise-runs. I make them on a regular, especially when I practice for the Kenya Wildlife Marathon. But do I eat before I run? What do I eat and how much of it?
It definitely helped me to understand my body's "morning fuel needs" ! I hope it will help you just as much.

We managed to get an interview from Ezekiel Oketch who is currently the Director of the Champions Running Store in Iten (Home of the Champions), Kenya.

Take a few minutes and learn about Ezekiel's life being surrounded by running champions. Iten is a truly athletic town and the Kenya Wildlife Marathon gives you the opportunity to experience this from an amazing athletic point of view.

"Running in Iten for any fun runner is running in the presence of greatness. It will make you appreciate the beauty of nature and why we must protect it." (Oketch, 2015)

Let's go back in history...

Let's do not only talk about the beauty of running. It cannot hurt to go a little bit back in history and discover where this beauty has its origin. This article bases its content in a short run back through time. Back to 490 B.C. when this brave run was more important than ever.

By means of the Kenya Wildlife Marathon,   we also want to celebrate a great deal of this tradition.

It is very important to know that recovery-time is just as essential as workout-time for your body. It does not just happen, you need to coax it along carefully. You need to give yourself, your muscles, your heart and your soul a proper amount of time to recover and regain energy. It is not all about run, run, run or do, do, do! It is also about resting and taking some time off!
Since recovery is so crucial, this article is about how and when to recover!
